The ship Svartlöga is located in Grenaa Harbor. The ship is both a classic association ship and an exhibition platform for contemporary art and culture. As an association ship, Svartlöga today is inhabited by a community that works to restore the ship, sails and cultivates the classic maritime craft traditions. Anyone can join!

OXER is an artist-run exhibition platform on board the ship Svartlöga and has existed since 2019. The name OXER is taken from the ship's identification letters (like a number plate). OXER arranges exhibitions, publications and workshops where contemporary artists are invited to rethink, challenge and contextualise the use of a ship. OXER's general ambition is to provide space for experiences with contemporary art and visionary thinking at the quay, on board and at sea. In the zone between sea and land, the use of a ship and the traditional maritime conditions are challenged, as well as contemporary art, the untraditional spaces and the culture around an exhibition. OXER is run by curators Sara Kirstine Grønborg and Anna Liv Bolther. For an overview of different projects see our archive or our list of residencies.
